MS Excel 101: Base Track

The MS Excel 101 Base Track is a state-of-the-art, 4 hr. hands-on, face-to-face workshop packed with learning activities designed to increase the confidence and productivity of its course participants.  This workshop cuts through the clutter and help the participant master the foundational concepts of Microsoft Excel®.  Based on a packed, proven, certified course curriculum, course participants will be able to use the Ten Command(ments) of Microsoft Office® to:

  • Go through a complete spreadsheet development cycle
  • Quickly scroll through and navigate between worksheets
  • Re-size, insert, hide, and remove columns and rows
  • Select and move cell ranges
  • Insert and calculate formulas and functions
  • Insert, delete, move, and rename worksheets
  • Learn the Excel window, enter text, numbers and dates
  • Apply built-in styles to cells, sheets, and tables
  • Format text, numbers, and dates
  • Add conditional formatting to tables with highlight rules and data bars
  • Insert print titles, set print areas, and insert page breaks
  • Enter headers and footers
  • Accurately preview and print a professional workbook

Base Track registrants will receive a Base Track Course Notes Pack and a Certificate of Completion.  Prerequisites: Familiarity with Microsoft Word® and personal computers, basic mouse skills, some experience using the Internet, and the ability to type into a software program.

MS Excel 101: The Pro Track

The Pro Track goes to the next level by adding a second 4 hr. workshop session for a total for a total of 8 hours of face-to-face hand-on learning, plus a 5 day on-line e-learning  experience consisting of daily on-line assignments reinforce and expand understanding.  Registration includes course text (see below.)  The Pro Track goes beyond the Base Track to help participants master the deeper productivity concepts and features of Microsoft Excel®.  In addition to the Base Track, Pro Track participants will learn how to:

  • Copy and build formulas containing relative, absolute, and mixed references
  • Review and analyze function syntax
  • Search and insert a function with the Insert Function dialog box
  • Type a function directly in a cell
  • Use AutoFill to fill in a formula and complete a series
  • Calculate monthly mortgage payments with the PMT financial function
  • Create an embedded chart with chart titles and legends
  • Create and format a pie, column and line charts
  • Construct 3D charts
  • Use custom formatting with chart axes
  • Work with tick marks and scale values
  • Create and format a combined chart
  • Insert and format a graphic shape
  • Create a chart sheet

Pro Track Registrants receive a Pro Level Course Notes Pack and access to our on-line learning resources including video lectures, drills, projects, and live-chat “office hours” with your on-line instructor.  Pro Track Registrants also receive a professional reference text that includes hours of how-to training videos, 100+ exercises, and a license for unlimited use of Microsoft Office 2007 for six months!  Prerequisites: Base Track prerequisites plus, regular access to an internet connected computer with MS Excel 2007 in order to participate in the on-line training and live-chat sessions.
